TJ believes a Financial Advisor is a coach, and coaching is something TJ knows a little bit about. Having played basketball in college at Southern Oregon University, TJ then jumped into coaching after college. He enjoyed teaching the game, helping young athletes develop as players and people, and seeing how a coach can make a real impact on someone’s life. Along the way, he earned a graduate degree from SOU to hone his craft and continued to grow his own coaching skills.
TJ grew up on the Oregon Coast in Reedsport in a family of educators. This strong foundation for life-long learning led TJ to financial advising. After a 21-year professional career teaching and coaching, TJ shifting gears to financial advising and began a new coaching career. Instead of teaching basketball, this one was focused on helping people reach their financial goals. Prior to Cutler, TJ had financial advisory roles as Wells Fargo Advisors and Edward Jones, where he learned many of the fundamentals he uses as a Cutler Financial Advisor. TJ believes in the benefits of practice, hard work, and continuous improvement. Learned from his years on the court, he brings these values to work as well.
Coaches are an important part of the local community, and TJ has always felt a strong connection to supporting those around him. In 2022, he and his family moved back to Southern Oregon and settled down in Ashland. His wife, Ashley, is an office manager at Ashland High School, and his three young sons are active in the Ashland school system. Not surprisingly, TJ can often be found on weekends on a sideline; coaching his sons in various sporting events.
